ARP Request Stress Tool has been developed to identify issues which might be caused by wrong ARP replies.
It can also be used to identify hardware changes (changed NIC) behind a certain IP address, for example.
The tool sends continuous ARP requests to the given IP address. Once the returned MAC address has changed, a previosuly identified MAC will be added to the Seen list.

How to reproduce
1. Start
2. Enter 0.0.0.0
3. Press Enter
4. Check the console window for ARP requests.
5. Run the tool again. The previous MAC should be there.
The changes may be seen in the console window or in the seen MAC’s list.
This is one of the tests.

According to RFC 2131, a client MAC address of an IP address is an address of the client.
In ARP tables, a MAC address is only a server address.
The reason is that a MAC address is commonly a hardware address, and it is not a client MAC address.
The reason why the MAC address is called a “client MAC address” is the old specification.
How do you know that an IP address is a client?
1. The IP address is published in the ARP table.
2. The IP address is published in the NIC card itself.
This tool has been developed to search for this condition.
It can also be used to search for subnet broadcast addresses.
The tool sends continuously ARP requests to the given IP address. Once the MAC address has changed, a previosuly identified MAC will be added to the Seen list.

To install Bluray Handler:

Download and extract the Bluray Handler zip file to the \Program Files\MediaPortal\MediaHandler\PluginPath\xxxxx directory
Create an empty hidden file named: plugins.ini in that same directory
Edit the \Program Files\MediaPortal\MediaHandler\PluginPath\plugins.ini file and add the following key:

[BlurayHandler]
Filename=”blurayhandler.dll”

Replace “xxxxx” with the ID of the plugin zip file you downloaded.
Save and close the file.

Launch MediaPortal and click on your device. The plugin should now be listed in the Plugins dropdown list.
If you wish, you can also change the plugin’s name and description via the configuration panel’s Plugin window.

Additional Notes:

MediaPortal’s media playback engine plays several file formats, but the plugin currently only supports.mp4 and.mkv (MOV) files.

Why? The reason is twofold.
First, the media plays just fine in all other aspects. It plays videos, and it plays audio.
It just refuses to play the.mp4 and.mkv files.
Second, the playback engine has to access file properties. This means that it needs to access the filename. The Windows built in File Explorer doesn’t have access to the file path information for a media file.

For those who have observed the error I am receiving, it is a configuration issue on the client’s end.

As it is currently implemented, the plugin will attempt to play the user selected title. However, it will do so if it has the correct file extension, and not the file’s MIME Type.
For example, if the user clicks on a movie file and selects, “Movie (avi)”, the Bluray Handler plugin will attempt to play the movie, however if the file is of a different format, for example, “Unknown (avi)”, the plugin will fail.
You can fix this by changing the configuration file to identify the MIME Type, rather than the file extension.

How to set the MIME Type:

First, locate the file type’s MIME Type registry key.
