Robert J. Lutes

Dr. Robert Lutes is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist and previously served as Deputy Chief of Anesthesiology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. Prior to joining Duke University Medical Center, he was a member of the faculty of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and served as an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Lutes completed his residency training in anesthesiology at Wake Forest University and his fellowship in anesthesia at Duke University Medical Center. He is certified by the National Board of Anesthesiology and is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Lutes is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in Psychology and a B.A. in Physics. He also completed his medical degree at The University of Texas at Austin.

Finding Sequence of Search Terms When Posting Full Web Page

I am building a web crawler and I need to be able to find the anchor links for a long web page that I’m posting to a site. The problem I have is that the page has so many links that it’s hard to know which ones are relevant.
So I thought to myself, why not treat the page like a web search, that is, when you put in keywords and hit “Search”, you see all of the link that Google is currently showing for those keywords.
I’m looking for some algorithm for this, but I’m having a hard time finding something that is both easy to implement and flexible for my specific scenario.
The algorithm needs to keep track of all of the links in the page and in the text surrounding them so that it can tell which links are relevant links.
If it helps, I’m posting links to a university research paper about the subject (part of a larger paper about my project).

I am particularly interested in the graphical links, but if anyone can help me with the most general solution for my problem, that would be great too.


If there are more than a few thousand of links, you won’t be able to find them all manually. A good link forencing algorithm is Google’s PageRank.
It’s a recursive algorithm that builds a ranking of web pages, according to the importance of the links pointing to them. Every page has an “importance” score it can calculate based on the number of links, the importance of those links, etc.
For any given page, you find its ranking in Google using the Google Search Engine.

Given how much of the larger conversation around health care and health care reform has been about small “innovation” (or “disruption” – as if a serious reform of the health care system is a technological problem to be solved), it’s a little surprising the extent to which health care and medical innovation are still defined primarily
